Hi, I'm Charlie.
I started writing stories when I was six years old on a Fisher Price typewriter. Through the years I added art journaling - my paragraphs of processing, as well as postcards, pictures, ripped out magazine pages, yarn, or sea glass - collaging with words and photos has always been my favorite form of how I try to write about and understand the world.
Charlie is my nick-name. This story is part memoir and part fiction. Some identifying characteristics - including places and names, the time line and some story details - have been altered, but for the most part it holds all the pieces I knew I had to write for that little girl who carefully scrolled paper into her plastic typewriter but could never tell the story she needed to most.
